Work visas in New Zealand – AEWV, Job Change & Variation of Conditions

Most people apply under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV). Immigration New Zealand checks the employer’s accreditation, your job details, salary and hours, and whether your role and location match your visa. If you change employer, job or location you often need a Job Change or Variation of Conditions.
This page explains what INZ looks for and how we prepare your file to be decision-ready.

Choose your situation

You need an AEWV or you hold one

You need to work for the named accredited employer, in the approved job and location for at least 30 hours a week. A second job is not allowed unless cleared by INZ.
We help ensure your job offer, employer accreditation, salary and hours meet the current settings.

You have a job change or location change

If you hold a work visa and your employer, role or work location changes you may need a Job Change or Variation of Conditions before starting.
We map your changes and prepare the correct application strategy.

You hold a partnership-based work visa or other work visa

Partnership-based work visas still require a genuine and stable relationship with your partner. Job changes may require reporting depending on visa conditions.
We review your visa conditions and advise accordingly.

What INZ checks for work visas

    INZ reviews

• Employer accreditation status
• Whether your job and pay meet the current settings for the role
• That your visa conditions match your actual job and location
• Health, character and bona fide intentions for a lawful, temporary stay
• Job Change or VOC has been properly applied if required

Missing or incorrect info can lead to refusal or removal.

How we prepare your work visa file

    Step 1 Assess

We confirm your pathway, employer status, job details, pay and hours and any past issues or refusals.

    Step 2 Rebuild

We align job details, employer accreditation, pay/hours settings and supporting documents to INZ requirements and prepare any Job Change or Variation of Conditions.

    Step 3 Submit and respond

We lodge when your file is decision-ready. If INZ asks questions, we respond on point and on time.
